Refugee Camp

Find the white face in the middle?

Nyarugusu camp sheltered over 52,000 Congolese refugees, over half of whom were children.

This first wave of people out of Congo consisted of university professors, business owners and intellectuals.

The entire camp was geared toward the education of the children. They received classes in physics, biology, kiSwahili, French, mathematics, and history. “When the war is over, if we go home with an educated generation, there is a better chance for peace.”
