In August 2005 she was invited to a major arts festival at the Cheltenham Racecourse, England, where Anne de Graaf learned about the breadth and depth of creative diversity. What that really means is she made new friends and got to play. (See Travel-Greenbelt, UK) For information about Greenbelt 2006 (25-28 August), check out greenbelt.org.uk |

A long story, but the director of the Bible Society in Lebanon invited her to a conference in Baghdad. She spent the previous week in May 2001 in Amman giving writing workshops to Jordanian writers and journalists. She’ll be writing about this in her upcoming book of travel stories. (For additional photos, see Travel-Middle East.) |

Anne de Graaf speaks when asked, and sometimes even when not asked. She teaches, too, although it’s usually the other way around. When she grows up she wants to be an alligator wrestler, but until that time, she will travel and talk about books, creativity, writing, expanding borders, persecuted Christians, passion or the butt-in-chair nitty gritty of writing. July 2005 found her in Denver at the Christian Booksellers’ Association trade fair (CBA). She spoke to about 60 authors at the Chi Libris annual retreat, telling stories of Muslim friends and Africa and the Middle East and the persecuted Church—a border expanding talk. This was the sixth year she has spoken to this group. |
